Lisbon Challenge
Lisbon Challenge is an ambitious 3-month acceleration program aimed at eager international tech startups in prototype or product phase, looking for a truly innovative and empowering experience. It aims to offer consistent methods and resources for startups acceleration, only possible due to Beta-i’s acquired know-how and benchmark with top global startup acceleration programs. This Fall 30 teams will meet with 200 international mentors & investors as well as participate in workshops, pitch sessions and networking events. After an Investors Day in Lisbon where teams will have the opportunity of presenting their product, the best selected teams will go on an international investors roadshow to Boston, São Paulo and London. The above characteristics compose Phase 1 of Lisbon Challenge. After the 3 months, the top 5 startups will be selected for Phase 2: a 6 month incubation period, during which each startup will receive an investment of €40K, have access to additional €150K in perks, office space up to 30 years, and legal & tax support. This phase of the program is equity-based, only for the 5 selected startups. In return for the 40K invested, 6-10% equity will be taken. All of this will be happening in the beautiful and exciting city of Lisbon, the right place to jump-start your business. The city offers all necessary infrastructures, talented resources and an excellent testing market; it is also an affordable destination and at GMT+0 an excellent location to work with both West and East. Lisbon has also been considered the 5th upcoming tech hub worldwide by Entrepreneur magazine and Europe’s coolest capital for 2014 by CNN.
